Ipoh Tuck Kee Restaurant

Restoran Tuck Kee is located along Jalan Yau Tet Shin, the famed food street offering some of the local favourites such as Steam Chicken with Beansprouts and bean curd by Funny Mountain.

Opened at 2pm daily, the half-a-century old restaurant in a rustic coffeeshop setting is filled with vintage floor tiles, old-school ceramic walls, round tables and plastic chairs.

Their menu is quite limited which features different types fried noodles and appetizers such as Hokkien Fried Noodles, Wat Dan Hor, Braised Yee Mee, Bean Sprout, Braised Chicken Feet, Meat Balls Soup, Baby Octopus in Soy Sauce and etc.

BUT ALL OF IT WAS SO DAMN DE-LI-CIOUS~

Can you imagine a poached baby octopus served with soy sauce, fried garlic oil and completed with fragrant fried garlic bits and chopped spring onions can become an Unimaginable dishes~
Slightly crunch, followed by firm and chewy flesh...

War Tan Hor Fun (滑蛋河粉) also known as Egg Hor Fun is a soup version of the flat rice noodles. Comes with shrimps, pork slices, pieces of lard and vegetables, the raw egg is cracked over the soupy Hor Fun to create a thicker texture.

No doubt that the gravy is fragrant and comforting, the hor fun lacks the “wok-hei” in this case.

Among all the noodles dishes, this Yut Kong Hor (月光河) is one of the most popular order. Also known as the moonlight fried noodles. Stir the raw egg with the noodle and you can start slurping the slippery smooth hor fun. Well braised in dark aromatic soy sauce and laden with the essential PORK LARD and pork lard oil, the simple satisfaction!

Sadly to said that the Pork Lard was not halal, so this restaurant was no suit to our Muslim friends~
